Ice Cream

So where is the best place to go for ice cream in Aurora? What are the choices? For us it's Marble Slab, Baskin Robins, and Dairy Queen.

Marble Slab ice cream is fantastic, and no matter what your kids' taste there is some combination that will put a smile on their faces, but be warned, you can go wrong! And Marble Slab is super expensive; expect to pay up to $20 dollars for a group of 4. Layla likes most of the chocolate varieties, but I think the Swiss chocolate is her favorite, she puts peanut-butter cups and marshmallows in it every time, and she eats it all. We have yet to perfect Sophia's tastes at "the Slab", 50% of the time she does not like what she gets. I suggest the vanilla ice cream with cookie dough. Be sure not to say chocolate chip cookie dough, or they will add extra chocolate chips and charge you another dollar or two.

Baskin Robins (BR) is the coziest of the three, with a little sitting area. Their chocolate-peanut butter is Layla's favorite; she likes to try the other chocolate varieties, but always goes back to this one. And Layla always eats all her ice cream, so I know she loves it. Come to think of it...she almost always eats all her ice cream no matter where we go. Sophia likes the sherbet, and the cotton candy and the chocolate chip cookie dough. Her tastes change with the weather, so you never really know if she is going to like her choice, but she more often like her choices at BR. I really like their ice cream too. "I will have chocolate chip cookie dough in a sugar cone...please". And the prices are reasonable; expect to pay just over $10 for a group of 4.

Dairy Queen (DQ) does not have chocolate ice cream, so we go there far less often. Layla will sometimes settle for a chocolate sundae, or a peanut buster parfait. If you are looking for vanilla soft serve, DQ is the one. But I would recommend one of the others for more variety.

Happy ice cream eating!
